Crack Stitch Case Study
Corner Crack Stitching with InvisiBeam Straps
With cracks in the corner and nearly 1/2" of bottom shear, this basement in Canfield Ohio needed some reinforcement.
The Challenge
A foundation wall in Canfield, Ohio was showing signs of structural failure, including cracking and inward bowing. These issues raised serious concerns about long-term stability and potential water intrusion. The homeowner needed a reliable, long-lasting solution to restore the wall’s integrity and prevent future movement.
The Solution
Pioneer Basement Solutions of Canton, Ohio was brought in to assess and execute the repair. To secure the corners and tie the structure together, they installed horizontal Crack Stitches spaced 8" apart. This technique helps hold the wall as a single monolithic unit and enhances the performance of vertical reinforcement systems.
To prevent further inward wall movement, 14 fully-anchored InvisiBeam straps were installed. These straps, anchored at both the top and bottom, distribute force evenly and provide long-term stability. The bottom anchors were especially crucial, as they counteract shear forces that tend to push the base of the wall inward over time.
To complete the repair, all visible cracks were filled using 4070 epoxy. This high-strength material not only prevents water infiltration but also eliminates future crack compression that can lead to deterioration of both the interior and exterior wall surfaces.
The Result
With the Crack Stitch system securing the corners and InvisiBeam providing full-height wall reinforcement, the foundation wall is now stabilized and protected against future movement. The epoxy-filled cracks sealed out moisture and prevented additional structural degradation, giving the homeowner peace of mind with a professional-grade repair.
