Crack Stitch Case Study
Charlotte Slab Repair with Crack Stitch & Soil Stabilization
TruLift Concrete Repair stabilized a cracked monolithic slab in Charlotte, NC using polyurethane injection and 37 Crack Stitches—ensuring a safe, lasting solution and an on-time closing.
The Challenge
During a home inspection on a monolithic slab home in Charlotte, NC, visible cracking was found both on the exterior foundation and beneath the interior glued-down flooring. These structural issues raised concerns with the buyer and halted the sale process until a solution could be implemented.
The Solution
TruLift Concrete Repair was contracted to carry out the repair process. The team began by using ground-penetrating radar (GPR) to scan the slab for buried utilities and hidden structural features. Once cleared, they performed deep polyurethane injections around the perimeter and interior of the slab to recompact and stabilize the underlying soils.
After the chemical grouting was complete, the concrete slab was prepped for stitching. Using a Hilti DCH 230 electric cutter and HEPA vacuum, 1” deep by 1/8” wide slots were cut into the slab. A total of 37 Crack Stitches were installed across all visible cracks in the concrete to provide long-term structural reinforcement.
The Result
In just one day, TruLift stabilized the foundation and installed all Crack Stitches, allowing the home’s flooring contractor to begin work just two days later. With the foundation fully reinforced and new flooring installed, the home sale closed the following day. The new homeowner moved in knowing the foundation was secure, stabilized, and protected using proven materials and techniques.
