Yes. For optimal concrete crack repair, always fill the crack using a high-compression material like an epoxy solution or cement-based filler. While Crack Stitch stops lateral expansion, unfilled cracks can still shift vertically or horizontally. Filling the crack, combined with properly spaced crack stitches, ensures permanent repair of the crack.

What tools are required to install the Crack Stitch concrete repair kit?
You’ll need a circular saw or angle grinder with a 1/4"–3/8" masonry blade, an epoxy applicator, and a putty knife or trowel. For cement-based installations, you’ll also need mixer. A vacuum-connected dustless cutting system is also recommended. Always wear eye protection and gloves when working with concrete and epoxy.

How deep and wide should I cut the slot for Crack Stitch?
Cut each slot approximately 1/4" wide, 1" deep, and 11" long. If the crack is offset, make the cut deeper to ensure the carbon stitch is fully embedded in both sides of the concrete.

Space stitches 10 inches apart for most concrete crack repairs. Load-bearing or structural repairs may require closer spacing—consult a structural engineer if needed.

When used with a high-strength epoxy or cement-based material, the stitch bonds continuously across the crack, unlike products that only bond at the ends. Cracks wider than 1” should be evaluated for deeper structural issues before stitching.

Can I paint or coat over Crack Stitch?
